Seattle police homicide detectives are investigating a near-fatal shooting in South Seattle Wednesday morning.
On June 18, at about 10:40 a.m., patrol officers responded to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) after a 49-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound (GSW) to the hip arrived at the hospital.
Around 11: 00 a.m., officers responded to a 911 text reporting someone shot inside of a recreational vehicle (RV) near 42nd Avenue South and Beacon Avenue South. Police arrived and located a 22-year-old man with a life-threatening GSW to the head.
Officers provided medical treatment until they were relieved by the Seattle Fire Department (SFD). SFD transported him to HMC in critical condition.
Detectives determined that an incident occurred inside of the RV and the men exchanged gunfire. The 49 year old got shot in the hip, and the 22 year old got shot in the head and is not expected to survive. Police identified a third suspect, yet they have not located him.
SPD recovered two of the three involved guns. The Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the shooting scene, and homicide detectives are assigned to this case.
