#2025-186242/East Precinct/Third Watch/G2:
At 0257 hours, responded to a report of a delayed carjacking at 14/S Washington St. Victim was conversing with a female suspect via Instagram. They pulled over at the elementary school at the location and a dark sedan pulled up blocking the victim’s vehicles path. Two suspects with guns jumped out and pointed them at the victim demanding that he exit his vehicle. The suspects demanded the victim’s phone, watch and wallet and then had the victim lay face down on the ground. The suspects jumped into the victim’s Alfa Romeo but couldn’t figure out how to release the parking brake. The suspects then demanded the victim get up and release the parking brake for them. With the parking brake released, one suspect jumped into the victim’s vehicle and then the female and the other suspect jumped into the dark sedan, and they all drove off in an unknown direction. The victim was told not to call 911. No tracking on the vehicle.
#2025-185598/North Precinct/Second Watch/J3:
At 1521 hours, Officers responded to reports of a suspect walking around the path of Green Lake waving an axe at people. Officers located the suspect nearby. The suspect was noncompliant. Once sufficient Officers arrived, they attempted to put the suspect in restraints. The suspect continued to resist and a taser was deployed. The suspect was later booked into KCJ for possession of dangerous weapons.
#2025-186955/Southest Precinct/Second Watch/W1:
At 2000 hours, Officers were flagged down on Alki Av Sw by a victim. The victim stated that an unknown suspect brandished a firearm at the victim, and he felt fearful for his life. Officers quickly checked the area and located the suspect that the victim positively identified on Alki Av Sw. Officers placed the suspect into custody and recovered a firearm on the suspect. The suspect was transported to KCJ and booked for Felony Harassment.
#2025-186990/North Precinct/Third Watch/U3:
At 2020 hours officers responded to a vehicle into a building. The vehicle had run a red light and ran into a restaurant causing minor injuries to multiple patrons. SFD responded and determined the building was unsafe to occupy. Driver was evaluated on scene and determined not to be DUI.
#2025-187217/South Precinct/Third Watch/R1:
At 2234 hours, as fireworks illuminated the night sky around Jefferson Park, a call into 911 stated a group of people were discharging fireworks at a group of juveniles. The two groups escalated their behavior until a physical altercation ensued followed by shots fired amongst the group sending people running. No firearm was observed. Officers arrived and located evidence and processed the scene. GVRU notified.
#2025-187180/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch/W1:
At 2214 hours, officers were flagged down in the area of Alki Beach, where a victim said he was jumped and beaten and had his iPhone taken from him by four strangers. Officers were provided a description and a direction of travel, and soon located the suspects, who were positively identified by the victim and his girlfriend, who was also assaulted during the altercation. A nearby neighbor also provided cell phone footage of the assault. One of the four was a juvenile who YSC would not book, and was released to his mother, and two of the remaining three were booked into KCJ for misdemeanor assault while the third, who took the victim’s iPhone, was booked for robbery. Robbery was contacted about this incident, and a vehicle was sent to the VPR for further investigation.
#2025-187212/North Precinct/Third Watch/L2:
At 2229 hours, 8000 block of Brooklyn Ave NE for a male that stole fireworks then brandished a gun. Upon contact with the victim, Officers developed PC for Felony Harassment and Misdemeanor theft. The suspect returned to his house close by and in view of the victim. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect via phone and talked him into coming outside. The suspect stated he took fireworks that were left in the park unattended to ensure they were safely disposed of, and he did not use or brandish a firearm. The suspect did tell the victim that “fireworks are not worth your life.” The suspect stated he only had long guns and did not own any pistol style firearms. The suspect declined to allow officers to see or retrieve his unregistered firearms and told them to get a search warrant. Officers applied for and were granted a search warrant where 11 firearms and thousands of rounds were recovered including the pistol that was used in the initial call. The suspect was booked into KCJ for the listed charges.
#2025-187014/East Precinct/Third Watch/E2:
East Precinct nightlife was busy with 4th of July festivities/disturbances. An unpermitted concert at Cal Anderson was going on, and an overdose took place with report of a not breathing individual. Officers and SFD arrived, and while assessing the patient, located an illegally carried firearm in a jacket pocket (25-186989). The subject was revived, but an angry crowd of 150-200 formed. Officers escorted SFD and the patient out, referring charges. 20 minutes later, another OD was broadcast in Cal Anderson, with ongoing CPR. SFD would not respond due to the hostile crowd until officers escorted them in. CRG responded to assist SFD in locating and treating the victim. The victim was located while park goers started donning gas masks despite SPD’s only action being escorting medical personnel to an unconscious person (25-187014). Next, an intoxicated suspect was denied entry to a bar and subsequently assaulted security and was handcuffed by them. Officers arrived, and she attempted to kick and bite officers, and several officers were required to respond to the scene due to heavy crowds. She was declined at KCJ for having scraped knees (25-187479). As officers were wrapping this up, a large explosive or firework was thrown by a person that startled the crowds outside and caused disabling damage to a vehicle at 10/Pike (25-187546). George sector cars spent much of the evening at HMC assisting WSP, Tacoma PD, and other precincts who had victims or injured parties transported there.
