Police Arrest Man Following Stabbing Inside Rainier Valley Safeway

Seattle police officers arrested a 64-year-old man following a stabbing inside of the Rainer Valley Safeway this afternoon that left a man seriously injured.

At about 4 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 3800 block of Rainier Avenue South. There, officers located a victim inside of a grocery store suffering from multiple stab wounds, bleeding profusely.

Within minutes, police located and arrested the suspect and recovered the knife as evidence.

Police and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) provided emergency medical treatment to the victim. SFD transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with life-threatening injuries. 

Upon review of the video surveillance footage, police determined that the suspect approached the victim inside the grocery store and stabbed him, seemingly unprovoked.

Police booked the suspect into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.

The circumstances leading up to the attack are under investigation. Detectives in the Homicide and Assault Unit will be assigned to this case.
