Late Tuesday night, shortly after 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian near 15th Avenue West and West Newton Street.
Police arrived and found a 32-year-old male motorcyclist critically injured in the roadway. A female pedestrian had also sustained serious injuries after being struck by the motorcycle. Seattle Fire Department medics arrived, attempted life-saving measures on the motorcyclist, but pronounced him deceased at the scene. The woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Patrol officers secured the area and detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to conduct a full investigation.
Witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on 15th Avenue West at a high rate of speed just before the collision. The motorcyclist struck the woman as she crossed the street westbound after exiting a transit bus.
