At 1205 hours, officers were on routine patrol in Roxhill Park when they heard a disturbance in a nearby homeless encampment. While walking the area, they observed a male put drug paraphernalia in his pocket, upon seeing their presence. They arrested the subject for narcotics violation. Search, incident to arrest, they located a stolen firearm, holstered in the suspect?s waist band. They also located multiple felony warrants for the suspect?s arrest and the suspect was on active DOC for kidnapping.

At 1735 hours, officers responded to a call for service at Volunteer Park for an assault. Officers quickly arrived on scene and began interviewing the victim who had a large laceration to her head as well as interviewed witnesses to the assault. Officers found that the victim was walking in the park when the suspect, who is a stranger, walked behind her with a large stick and without saying a word, began striking her multiple times. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect continued to strike her multiple times before fleeing the area. Officers conducted an area check but due to conflicting directions of travel of the suspect, the area check led to negative results. Due to the time delay, K-9 was consulted but did not come out to the scene.
