#2025-235705/North Precinct/Second Watch/L2:
At 1739 hours, Officers responded to a “HELP-THE-OFFICER” in the Northgate Mall area. First the call was a HTO, then is was revised to assist armed security fighting with a suspect, and then it was revised again to an off-duty officer fighting with a suspect. On arrival officers determined that the suspect was fighting with a uniformed armed security guard working for a local security contractor, who is a full time officer with a southeastern Washington police department. While attempting to avoid capture the shoplifting suspect assaulted the security guard/off-duty officer by kicking him, elevating the crime to a robbery. No serious injuries to victim, suspect booked into KCJ.
#2025-235683/North Precinct/Second Watch/L3:
At 1719 hours, Officers responded to a broadcast of a shooting in an apartment complex, which prompted a large SPD/SFD response. On arrival officers discovered a male victim with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The victim had life signs and was quickly transported to HMC by SFD, however HMC has since advised that victim is deceased. Investigation and statements from witnesses indicates very strong likelihood of alcohol as a factor and there is the possibility that the suicide was unintentional. No indications or suspicions of homicide at this time. Scene processed by patrol, firearm and ammunition taken for evidence.
