Seattle police arrested six people, including three juveniles, after reports of a large fight and possible assault in the Sand Point neighborhood on Tuesday evening.
On Aug.19 at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to the incident near the 6800 block of 62nd Avenue Northeast.
Seattle police officers saw a large group of people in an active fight. They located a 19-year-old male victim bleeding heavily from the face and having difficulty breathing. Witnesses directed police toward three male suspects who fled on foot. Officers pursued and detained all three after brief foot chases. Three female suspects remained on scene and were also detained.
After gathering witness statements and apartment complex surveillance video, officers determined six suspects, including three males who are 17, 20, and 23 years old, and three females who are 15, 17, and 18 years old, had assaulted the victim both inside and outside of an apartment. The assault continued into a courtyard between two buildings. A building employee who tried to de-escalate the situation was also assaulted by the group.
Seattle Fire Department medics treated the victim at the scene for facial injuries before transporting him to a nearby hospital. He was unable to give a full statement due to the extent of his injuries.
The six suspects were taken into custody and transported to the North Precinct. Charges include assault in the third and fourth degree as well as obstructing a law enforcement officer.
Detectives from the Homicide and Assault Unit are continuing to investigate.
