At 1821 hours, the housemate of the Subject called 911 to report that he was in crisis and going to hurt himself with a rifle. Officers arrived with the assistance of guardian-1. The subject’s house was directly in front of Sunset Hill Park with approximately 35 community members doing sunset yoga. Due to the threat of a rifle across the street, a large police presence, helicopter and long guns and shields we had people leave the park for their safety. Police were able to safely contact the suspect and took him into custody without issue. Once in custody we permitted the yogis back into the park. The subject was sent to the hospital on an ITA, and the firearm he was assembling in the garage and ammunition were taken and we are filing for an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO).
