Woman Punches Firefighter, Bites Cop, Goes to Jail

Seattle police officers arrested a 51-year-old woman for assaulting both a firefighter and a police officer in the Central District yesterday afternoon.

On Oct. 23, at 4:35 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a combative patient inside of a medic van in the 1400 block of South Weller Street. There, officers found an irate woman seated inside of the vehicle, yelling and throwing things into the street.

The woman screamed at police, using bias and derogatory language, among other insults. One of the Seattle Fire Department medics reported to officers that the woman punched him twice in the face and neck, causing minor injuries.

Officers arrested the suspect for assault. When placing her into handcuffs, she bit one of the arresting officers, causing pain to her hand.

According to the police report, the suspect, “made numerous more threats, telling officers that she would kill them and assault them further,” and she “brags about assaulting police and not getting charged.”

First responders transported the suspect to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation. When discharged, officers booked her into the King County Jail for Assault in the third degree.

Detectives in the Homicide and Assault Unit are assigned to this case.
