Seattle police officers arrested two men, 24 and 26, for armed robbery in Downtown Seattle last night.
On Oct. 24, at about 6:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a robbery in the 100 block of South Stewart Street. There, multiple victims told officers that three suspects, armed with knives and firearms, forced their way into an apartment, pistol whipping one of them in the face, and stealing their electronics.
Officers learned that two of the suspects resided in the building. They set up a security perimeter around the building and began searching for the suspects. While searching, police found a knife hidden in the east stairwell, believed to be used in the robbery, and recovered it as evidence.
Using the building’s surveillance cameras, officers tracked two of the suspects to their apartments. Shortly thereafter, officers arrested one the men, 24, in the lobby without incident.
The second suspect, 26, refused to exit his apartment. Police negotiators and the SWAT team arrived at the scene. During the hourslong standoff, officers applied for a search warrant, and a judge approved it.
Ultimately, the man exited his apartment, and SWAT arrested him at about 11:00 p.m.
Officers searched the suspect’s apartment and recovered a replica style firearm with an extended magazine. Police booked both suspects into the King County Jail for Robbery.
Officers did not find the third suspect, and his whereabouts are not known. This is an open and active investigation assigned to the Robbery Unit.
