#2025-315866/West Precinct/Second Watch/K2:

At 1345 hours, officers of the West Precinct responded to a threat with a knife call in the area of 1 Ave S and South Dearborn St. The suspect was making numerous racially driven comments before being confronted by a passerby. The suspect angered that his bias rant was interrupted, threatened to stab the victim and displayed a knife. Officers contacted the suspect in the 500 block of 1 Ave S. During the contact, the suspect took steps to prevent his arrest. A scuffle with officers occurred and a department issue taser was deployed. The suspect’s pets became upset by the incident and tried to attack officers. Officers deployed the taser, striking one of the animals and deterring the other. Once the suspect was in custody and the dogs were under control, the suspect spat on a West Precinct Officer. The suspect then continued to use another string of imaginative bias-based language. Suspect was arrested on scene following the incident. Animal control took control over the animals prior to SPD’s departure from the scene.
