Police Investigating Early Morning Stabbing Near Sinking Ship Garage

Police are investigating a stabbing that seriously injured a 24-year-old man early Saturday morning near the Sinking Ship Garage in Pioneer Square.

Around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Second Avenue. A large crowd was seen leaving the area, but no witnesses reported hearing gunfire, and no shell casings were found.

Hours later, a 24-year-old man arrived at Harborview Medical Center with multiple stab wounds. Hospital staff reported the victim suffered four stab wounds to his back, three to his scalp, one to his rib cage, and one to his right arm. His injuries were serious but non-life-threatening.

Officers learned the victim and his friends had been followed from a nearby nightclub by a group of unknown individuals. When a fight broke out near the entrance to the garage, the victim tried to intervene and was stabbed several times by an unidentified suspect.

The Homicide/Assault Unit has been notified and will be leading the investigation.
