Seattle police officers arrested a 30-year-old violent felon armed with a machete while doing proactive patrols in the Chinatown-International District yesterday morning.
On Nov. 25 at 2:00 a.m., officers patrolling 12th Avenue South and South King Street saw a man they recognized with warrants for his arrest.
When officers detained the man, he gave them a false name to conceal his identity. They placed him under arrest for his warrants:
- $15,075 domestic violence warrant for Assault with Sexual Motivation, attempted Unlawful Imprisonment, Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic Violence
- $1,000 felony warrant for Theft in the 2nd Degree
During his interaction with the cops, the suspect “became irate and began challenging officers to a fight, calling officers slurs, and started to flail his legs,” according to the police report.
The suspect, a previously convicted felon for Assault, and Intimidating a Public Servant has a “High Violent” risk level classification.
Police recovered a machete during the arrest. They recommended additional criminal charges for Unlawful Use of Weapons.
Officers booked the suspect into the King County Jail.
