At 0023 hours, officers were contacted by a RP stating an approximately 9ft tall menorah, that was set up for a permitted event, was stolen from a park. The theft took place sometime between the evening of 12/12 and mid-day on 12/13. The RP believed it was a hate crime due to the religious nature of the menorah.

At 1517 hours, South Precinct Patrol responded to a domestic violence assault with a mandatory arrest at the apartments located near 48th Avenue South and South Henderson Street. The suspect, a known violent felon, was on escape status from work release and in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident. Witness also said the suspect had barricaded himself an apartment and would not go back to jail without shooting it out with the police. The apartment was contained and 232, 271, SWAT and HNT responded. A search warrant was obtained and after an almost five-hour standoff with no contact, HNT 1 was able to establish communication with the suspect who agreed to surrender. He was taken into custody with no injuries. A stolen rifle was recovered from the unit. The suspect was transported to KCJ where he was declined for chest pains. Hospital guard was established, and he is pending booking with additional felony charges once medically cleared.

At 2142 hours, officers were dispatched to an occupied burglary. The residents said an unknown male entered their house and told them he had a knife. The occupants locked themselves in a bedroom. CRT and patrol arrived on scene and could see a male standing in the living room through the window. CRT was able to make entry, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. After a KCJ decline and HMC visit, officers were able to book the suspect into KCJ.
