At 1530 hours, officers were dispatched to the 2300 blk of 3rd Avenue for a hazard call. Per complainant, there were 8 metal 50-gallon barrels with labels “Hazardous Waste Materials, Contact Police or EPA if found”. The items were in an alley between restaurants and a religious facility. Officers spoke to businesses in the area. One establishment had their internet out and requested Comcast to resolve the issue. A week ago, Comcast was in the alley with a vacuum truck removing debris from a sewer drain. The barrels contained the remnants from the drain. Officers were able to contact the appropriate agency to remove the barrels. ABS and 212 was aware of incident.
