At 1520 hours, officers responded to an assault call at a local hospital near Spring Street and Boren Avenue to contact a victim who had just been dropped off with a stab wound. The victim reported that at 1520 hours, near 5th Avenue and Blanchard. He exited a restaurant and walked to his vehicle parked in the adjoining parking lot. While in the parking lot, an unknown individual asked him for money. Subsequently, another unknown suspect approached him with a blunt object and struck his left arm and hand. The victim’s injuries were not severe or life-threatening. Officers requested that West Precinct officers visit the scene to search for any potential crime scene evidence, security cameras, or witnesses. No suspect description given by the victim.

At 1200 hours, Watch East Precinct officers alongside GIU detectives ran a retail theft operation at Safeway (1410 E John). Six arrests were made; the most notable is a suspect with an outstanding felony warrant who was armed with a stolen firearm, and 4.6 grams of fentanyl.

At 1734 hours, a stabbing occurred on January 24th (SPD #2026-022622), and the victim was able to subsequently identify the suspect. The same suspect was involved in an Assault and Burglary against a different victim in the building on January 29th, and a felony Assault on this date against a third victim in the building (#2026-035087). Today officers accompanied SFD to conduct a welfare check on the latest victim due to building staff concerns. While officers were there, they observed the suspect who was taken into custody without incident. One large fixed-blade knife was recovered. Suspect was declined for booking by KCJ.
