Update: Detectives Re-Arrest Vehicular Homicide Suspect After Treatment Release

Seattle police detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) re-arrested a 27-year-old man for vehicular homicide Friday morning following his release from a treatment facility.

At 11:05 a.m. April 3, detectives arrested Aboubacarr Singhateh In connection with a deadly crash that occurred May 23, 2024. In that incident Singhateh’s truck collided with a taxi, killing a 74-year-old woman and seriously injuring three others.

On May 28, 2024, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Singhateh with vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault. A court later found him incompetent to stand trial and he entered a treatment program.

After the suspect completed treatment in a neighboring city, prosecutors refiled the charges. TCIS detectives coordinated with the treatment facility and the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to take him back into custody.

Detectives transported and booked the suspect into King County Jail.

Detectives Investigate fatal Collision in Downtown Seattle

Detectives are investigating a fatal collision in Downtown Seattle Thursday afternoon.

At 11:59 a.m., officers responded to reports of a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of 4th Avenue South and South Washington Street. Officers, along with Seattle Fire Department personnel, arrived and located a taxicab and truck in the intersection with significant damage.

Firefighters extricated multiple passengers from the taxicab and provided medical aid on scene. One male passenger and male driver of the taxicab were transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in stable condition.

Three female passengers, all in their 70’s, were transported HMC. Despite all lifesaving measures, one female passenger succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Patrol officers cordoned off the area and detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene.

Based on the investigation, the driver of the truck was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center.
