At 1027 hours, a passerby reported a subject waving around a knife on the sidewalk immediately next to Ballard High School located at 1418 Nw 65 St. Officers responded and could not locate the subject or any victims of any crimes. At 1027 hours another call came into 911 reporting that the same male had a large laceration to his right arm and flagged a BHS student down to call into 911. The subject laid down in the grassy area on the southside of BHS property. This caused the school to go into lockdown as they were not sure of the subject’s intent. It was later determined by CRT resources that this was a self-inflicted injury, and the subject was ITA’d to HMC. The knife was recovered. At 1931 hours, officers were dispatched to a report of a person with a GSW. While in route to the location, the call was updated that CRP was being administered. Officers quickly arrived and began life-saving measures until SFD was on scene. The victim was quickly loaded into Medic-1 and rushed to HMC where he was pronounced deceased. Witnesses were located and interviewed, and a handgun and cell phone were processed and collected. Based on the location of the GSW and witness accounts, it appears this is likely a self-inflicted GSW as the victim attempted to put the handgun into his waistband.
