At 0400 hours, officers responded to an alarmed business owner of a late-night eatery reporting two men with guns inside. Both men had ordered food, been displeased with their service, and left before returning to the restaurant and arguing with staff. Officers surveilled the restaurant and saw no disturbance. They entered the restaurant and saw 30-round .556 magazine protruding from one man’s shirt. Two people were detained – one with a short-barreled rifle with a 30-round magazine in his jacket, the other who had a stolen pistol in his pocket (Tacoma PD case). Both men arrested.
#2026-99370Southwest Precinct/Second Watch/F1:
At 1735 hours, officers responded to several reports of shots fired in the 6000 block 30 Ave SW. Officers arrived and located multiple fired cartridge casings in two separate areas on the east sidewalk. Three homes and a vehicle sustained bullet damage with no reported injuries. Witnesses reported hearing the shots and observing two black sedans with heavy tint leaving the area with one chasing the other. GVRU notified.
#2026-99234/South Precinct/Second Watch/S2:
At 1620 hours, officers responded to the 9200 block of Rainier Ave S to reports of shots fired. Officers arrived and located over 60 FCCs consisting of rifle and handgun calibers. The suspects fled prior to officers’ arrival, and no victims were struck by gunfire. GVRU responded to the scene to assist with processing.
#2026-99069/North Precinct/Second Watch/U3:
At 1057 hours, the suspect attempted to leave the University Village QFC with unpaid for merchandise and was stopped by security. The suspect assaulted security, committing a robbery, and was subdued. The suspect was taken into custody by SPD and transported to KCJ for booking on the robbery charge. At the jail the suspect was found to have a cut on his lip and was declined for booking pending medical clearance by HMC. While guarded by an officer the suspect waited seven hours until being assigned a bed, after which it was decided he would get a CT scan for his cut lip. The suspect was medically cleared by HMC and returned to KCJ for booking 12.5 hours later.
