Seattle police officers arrested a 22-year-old felon on supervised release following a dispute and shooting over a bicycle in Capitol Hill Sunday morning.
At about 1:45 a.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of East Thomas Street, with information that a suspect was running down an alley while armed with a gun. Police formed an arrest team and found the suspect nearby, hiding between vehicles. Officers arrested him without incident and recovered the gun and ammunition. They also found the victim unharmed.
Police determined that the two men got into an argument over a suspected stolen bicycle. During the disagreement, the suspect shot his gun into the air before both parties ran off.
The suspect is a convicted felon for acts involving a deadly weapon. He is on active Department of Corrections supervision and is prohibited from having guns. Police also found two warrants for his arrest for obstruction and escape.
Police booked the suspect into the King County Jail for firearm offenses. Detectives in the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are assigned to this case.
