Man Arrested After SWAT Standoff in South Seattle

Seattle police SWAT officers arrested a man after a seven-hour standoff in the SODO neighborhood. 

At about 2:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of stabbing at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of 4th Avenue South. Officers found a male victim in the courtyard suffering from multiple stab wounds. 

The Seattle Fire Department arrived and treated the victim. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. 

The suspect retreated into his apartment and barricaded himself inside. Officers set up a security perimeter around his residence and requested help from SPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team members. Despite all efforts, the suspect refused to surrender to police.

Officers secured a search warrant and after it was approved the SWAT team went inside and made an arrest. The suspect will be booked into the King County Jail for felony assault.
