At 0157 hours, West Precinct patrol officers monitoring the nightlife crowds in Pioneer Square observed a male holding a firearm and peering into a crowded parking lot, as if he were looking for a particular target. When officers went to contact the male, he briefly ducked away and attempted to discard the firearm under a vehicle. He was unsuccessful. The Firearm was determined to be stolen. The suspect was placed under arrest for Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Weapons apparently capable of producing bodily harm. The suspect was booked into KCJ and the Firearm recovered and submitted to evidence. It is very likely that the action taken by officers prevented a shooting from taking place.
