On September 14, Seattle Police Department detectives arrested a 44-year-old man in connection to a homicide that occurred September 6 near 3rd Avenue and Blanchard Street. Officers found the 23-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives with the assistance of SWAT and Gun Violence Reduction Unit located the suspect and took him into custody.
Police booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of Murder.

Detectives Investigate Belltown Shooting
Detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that left an adult woman deceased in Belltown neighborhood.
Shortly before 2:00 a.m., dispatch received reports of shooting near 3rd Avenue and Blanchard Street.
Officers arrived and found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to head and torso. Officers provided aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived. The woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The investigation revealed that a vehicle was parked that the woman was sitting in, and the suspect fired several shots into the vehicle, striking the victim. The suspect left the scene shortly after the shooting.
The suspect is not in custody currently.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene and are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
